Full Course of Therapy | |

The proper protocol for Visudyne therapy calls for a “full course of therapy.” This means treating patients every 3 months as long as leakage appears on fluorescein angiography.3 Two-year results from the TAP Investigation were achieved using this protocol, and Visudyne is indicated for use according to the same. (See TAP Protocol)
With Visudyne, patients must understand that successful therapy will require a commitment to several therapy sessions over time. Normally, the number of treatments per patient will vary, but studies show that, on average, patients require 2.7 treatments per year over the course of 2 years.2
Studies confirm that persistent therapy with Visudyne provides sustained efficacy.
In patients receiving Visudyne, visual benefit was sustained over 2 years.*2
Patients receiving the full course of therapy needed fewer treatments each year.†2
- Course of therapy varied by individual angiographic response
- Patients only received treatment at visits when leakage was present
